home sweet home

Last Thursday my sister-in-law picked me up from school and by 5 o’clock in the morning on Friday, I was headed to the airport to go home for a short weekend!! My plan was to surprise my boyfriend, who is a professional boxer. He had a fight scheduled for that Friday but it ended up being cancelled. Thankfully it was because I wouldn’t have made it in time.. I had a lay over in Atlanta where I was delayed almost two hours. But through all my impatience and him being bummed about the fight, it turned out to be a great surprise and an amazing weekend! I flew into Philadelphia and the entire plane ride I was so anxious and excited, the poor lady sitting next to me probably wanted to strangle me. My cousin picked me up from the airport and took me home to say hi to my grandfather. It was a little upsetting because I didn’t get to see my mom - she was in North Carolina visiting my twin brother and UNC; but it was sooo good to see Pop-pop. After catching up with pops some, I went to lunch with my girlfriends and then one of my best friends drove me to Mike’s house for the big surprise. Everyone else but him knew I was coming home - I was actually quite surprised myself that he never found out. We didn't do much Friday night.. I was so exhausted from waking up at 3:30AM and having a long day of traveling; we just hung out with his family. Saturday Mike and I went to my cousins track meet and literally watched her run by us once (most boring sport ever). Then we did some running around and took my Pop-pop out to get out of the house. Saturday night we had crabs with Mike's family for his moms birthday and then some of our friends came over and we had a bon fire and went 4wheeling. Sunday morning Mike took me back to the airport. So yes, it was a very short weekend and it flew by! But it was so great to get home and be in an area that I know and around places I'm familiar with. It was great to see my boyfriend and his family, my friends and some of my family. And it made coming back to school somewhat easier.
